The 4.00 Chair

The 4.00 Chair

I have recently come across a find that no one should turn down. They show up frequently in thrift stores, and at first glance they seem like a lost cause. Many times the fabric is faded or torn. Other times they once had fake leather […]

Upcycled Clock Turned Glass Cloche

Upcycled Clock Turned Glass Cloche

Have you seen those old brass dome clocks in the thrift store? Well next time, you may not want to pass it up. One thing I always try to do is visualize how something can look with a little paint or tweaking. This is one of them!

These clocks can be found pretty easily and mine was less than 4.00 at my local thrift store. In this case I literally just lifted the dome off of the original clock and then paired it with a thrifted candlestick from Pottery Barn. Once I did that, I used a thrifted pitcher that I found for 1.00 and some fresh eucalyptus from the yard. And in all it created a beautiful little piece of art in and of itself! I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.

Moral of the story: always imagine what it could be rather than what it is. You may have a diamond in the rough and not even know it. For less than 6.00 I was able to create a one of a kind home accessory. The best part is that you can change the items inside of it as much as you want and it can be used in virtually any room of the house.
